Switch
Bringing convenience and fun to digital nomads.
With WFH (working from home) and 4 day work weeks becoming the “new normal” post pandemic, some are enjoying the benefits of exploring new environments to work in while others are finding refuge from inconducive conditions.
Switch provides a wide network of workspaces wherever and whenever you need it. Having the flexibility to book for a day, and hour or by the minute.

The Challenge
“The application albeit being quite new, is well developed & thought through. Now we need to design how to retain users, have more fun in choosing/discovering places.”
Research
My research first centered around industrial outlook in order to give a sense of local views and government policies that would affect how the company can engage with its customers. Next, analysing features that competitor apps adopt that could enhance user engagement. Over 30 user survey responses help deepen on-the-ground experiences and what they’re hoping to resolve. And lastly, one-on-one interviews would help me understand user’s journeys and specific issues the app would need to address.
Findings
User used visual signs in the booth to navigate their way through the app, that means there is improvements that can be made on the on-boarding process.
Reviews section can be implemented for other viewers to make an informed decision.
A point/reward system can be implemented to increase conversion and be more desirable.
Visualizing a User-Centric Experience
Rapid sketching allowed me to explore design patterns seen amongst competitor applications. This also helped identify screen sequencing as well as swiping/touch gestures that would ensure a smooth flow of information.
Investigating site structure
This site map provides an overview on tasks and functionality the app provides. User insights along with accessibility techniques would guide design decisions moving forward.
Check Out flow
No feedback after ending a session.
Insight:
Proposed:
Clear indication of “successful check out” by using an overlay screen from instant feedback.
Search flow
Lack a list of favourite or frequently visited locations.
Insight:
Proposed:
Reposition elements to introduce a “like” function.

Lessons learnt
I learnt that making an impact does not necessarily mean having a big change. Instead, using informative insights is more meaningful to the purpose of the project.
Utilising the framework of “Work on something bit sized, gain feedback, reiterate, repeat” has helped me accelerate the needs and shortfall of my redesign.
Replicating the interface taught me the importance of analysing the sequences of animation that has been featured and incorporate into my own mockup.
